With a robust technical brief of mandatory inclusions and a goal of making something that really got people inspired, we knew that our approach need not only go big, but that our execution required some abstract thinking. To see that through, creative director Andy Sheffield and I created a full-fledged animatics so that both our team—and Amazon's team (along with a large handful of brand partners)—could experience the concepts...in time...before it was made.
Fast-forward 4 months later, and our vision was realized with minimal differences from that animatic. Through intense 3D compositing and a live-action macro-photography production, we were able to create exciting visuals for an otherwise intangible technology, inspiring game developers before and at re:Invent to push the boundaries of how people experience games.
